Description
Extremely Rare Genuine Original 1961 Jaguar E-Type Shelley LJ225 Lifting Jack – Exceptional Unrestored Condition
An exceptionally rare opportunity to acquire a genuine original Shelley LJ225 lifting jack for the earliest 1961 Jaguar E-Types.
This remarkable example has survived for more than six decades in beautifully preserved, completely unrestored condition, retaining its original factory paint.
Unlike many surviving Shelley jacks that have been heavily used, repainted or fully restored, this example remains remarkably close to its original appearance.
There is some natural paint loss and minor age-related wear, exactly as one would expect from an authentic component of this age. However, the overall preservation is outstanding, with comparatively little evidence of use.
In my experience, this is probably one of the finest surviving examples you are likely to encounter in genuine, unrestored condition.
An Important Detail for the Earliest Jaguar E-Types
The Shelley LJ225 lifting jack belongs to the early equipment specification of the 1961 Jaguar E-Type and is a particularly desirable component for collectors of the earliest cars.
Finding a genuine example is difficult enough. Finding one that has never been restored, still retains its original paint and displays so little wear is considerably more challenging.
For a serious collector, the surviving original finish is an essential part of its historical value. Repainting such a jack might improve its cosmetic appearance, but would permanently destroy the originality that makes this example so special.
